Its hard to believe how much America has changed since I grew up. At fifty two years old the world has changed so much. I remember what America and life in America was like when I was young. Now with technology we think we are so better off, but are we really. Here in this blog I will try to find my America, the America I grew up in, and an America I feel we need today.
To start let me tell you what growing up in America was like for me.
- There were only three tv channels, you had to constantly adjust the antenna to get a signal.
- There were no cell phones, we actually had a party line.
- There were no VCR's , DVD's movies came on 8 mm reels and sound came on reels. We had phonographs that played 45's, 33 1/3 and 78 rpm's
- There were no credit cards the only thing you really borrowed money for was a house and a car.
- We didn't have computers, video games or email. We phoned people, wrote letters,
- Stores were closed on Sunday and everyone went to church or stayed home and rested.
- We had to do chores and help around the house.
- We had to help in my dads store, for free we had no allowance or paycheck.
- We ate dinner together every night as a family.
- We discussed things as a family
It was a great childhood without all that kids feel they will have to get or they will simply die.
So in this blog I will talk about the America I grew up in, and loved, and the America we have today. And hopefully somewhere in there we can find a happy meduim and America can once again become the great country it once was, and families will once again be families. People will have manners, respect for others.
See you again Soon
